For many, the
image of the
twin towers
comes soaring
to mind. As a testament to the great
Malaysian spirit, it represents a symbol of
the country’s presence on the world stage.
Located in the heart of the bustling
Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) area,
the Petronas Twin Towers soar to a height
of 451.9 metres, with 88-storeys each.
Majestic by day and dazzling at night,
the Petronas Twin Towers is Malaysia’s
magnificent monument symbolising
the vision and growth of the nation. A
masterpiece of modern architecture, this
structure cleverly blends the intrinsic
combination of Eastern and Western
aesthetics in design, bringing you an epic
marvel of steel and glass that will leave
you captivated.
Each of the two towers is set back five
times in its ascent, to maintain its vertical
axis and tapers off in design to meet the
pinnacle. The design of each of the two
towers’ floors is based on simple Islamic
geometric forms of two interlocking
squares, creating the shape of an eight-
pointed star. Architecturally speaking,
these forms represent the Islamic principles
of “unity within unity, harmony, stability
and rationality”.
The Towers feature multi-faceted walls
of 33,000 stainless steel pieces and 55,000
glass panels of Vision Glass, which are
