Visitors to Catarman can enjoy the
unspoilt beauty of nature alongside the

also known as the as Ninorte Samarenyo
or Nortehon. Majority of the people in
the province of Northern Samar speak the
Norte Samarnon, a variation of Waray-

Catarman was a settlement by the
mouth of the river of the same name in
the region called Ibabao before the coming
of the Spaniards. But today, it is home to
the University of Eastern Philippines, the
largest university by student population
and curriculum in Eastern Visayas.
