must say that his quote
did provide me with a good excuse to
ponder over the matter at Meritus Pelangi
Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi’s newly
launched CBA, a beachside restaurant
and bar.
Designed in the style of a traditional
Malay village, the resort sits along the
white sandy beaches of the famous Cenang
Beach in Langkawi, Malaysia. Covering an
area of 35 acres on a beachfront location,
the resort offers a relaxing atmosphere
amidst lush tropical environment and
award-winning landscaped gardens.
Having just completed an extensive,
multi-million dollar refurbishment pro-
gramme, the resort’s architecture was

conceptualised to blend in with the
environment. There are 51 single and
double-storey wooden chalets with a total
of 355 guestrooms that are characteristi-
cally raised on stilts with open spacious
verandas, featuring sloping roofs, exposed
roof tiles and trusses.
Each chalet belies the luxurious tradi-
tional charmand quality within. Elegantly
furnished in soft, pastel colours, each
guestroom is thoughtfully equipped with
modern amenities while the lighting
created a soft, cosy ambience. To further
enhance the character of the wooden
interior, natural textured material such
as sisal carpet panels and nyatoh flower
motifs have been added to the wall as
decorative pieces.
