release tension. At the end of mymassage,
my body felt as light as a feather – as if all
the weight of the world had been lifted
off me.
I was so relaxed up to a point where I
dove into slumber landwhenmy therapist
was performing the Aromatic Thai Facial.
When I woke up, my therapist was done
with the facial and told me that I could
make my way to the balcony while she
preparedmy drink…not before she said “I
hope you enjoyed your sleep” with a small
chuckle. I reckon I must have snored my
way through the facial as I tended to do so
when in utter relaxation.
That aside, my experience at The Spa
came to an end with a pot of tea and a
serving of mini-sized pineapples as sweet
as candy. I enjoyedmy refreshments while
taking in the amazing sunset view from the
balcony; something that I would remember
by for the rest of my life.
Besides the wide selection of spa treat-
ments on themenu, The Spa also has a few
outsourced practitioners who are experts
in yoga, sports massage and personal
training. But one interesting person who
caught my attention as I was going through
the menu was Khun Nikorn Banjerdlert, a
reiki master and a former Buddhist monk
who specialises in energy healing, as well
asmind training or meditation. This would
definitely be something for me to look
forward to the next time I come back to
The Spa by Paresa.

As the therapist went to prepare the
treatment room, I took a sniff of the various
massage oils available while finishing my
drink and immediately fell in love with the
deliciously sweet scent of the coconut oil.
Unfortunately, the Thai Boran Massage
that I chose did not require any kind of oil.
But tomy delight, the therapist toldme that
the oils were available for sale, so I ended
up buying a couple of bottles for myself.
It was then time for me to start my
luxurious pampering sessionwhich started
off with a Floral Foot Ritual. Dipping my
feet into a warmflower bath while staring
into a breath-taking view of the Andaman
Sea through the floor-to-ceiling window in
my therapy room, the therapist gave me a
refreshing foot scrub using a combination
of fine salt and lime. Once she was done,
I made my way to the bath area where I
had the calming Thai Herbal Steam and
Oriental Herb Aromatic Body Salt Soak,
which made my skin smooth as silk.
Finally, it came to the moment I had
been waiting for – the Thai Boran Mas-
sage. In this classic ritual dating back
2,500 years, I was treated to a Thai style
massage that concentrated on my body’s
pressure points and stretchingmovements
to stimulate blood circulation and ease
muscle tension. It is a rhythmic massage
that utilises scented herbal pouches that
are heated and applied to the body at
pressure points to relax the muscles and
