role and responsibilities in Firefly?
I am an Assistant Manager for Quality
Assurance andmy responsibilities include
ensuring all employees and stations com-
ply and conform to our high expectations
and standards.
Howwouldyoudescribeyour job?
I assist with ensuring that Ground Op-
erations, safety and security training and
policy and implementation meets the
regulatory and company standards. I also
monitor whether the AOC complies with
recommended conditions and restrictions.
What doyoudoon a dailybasis?
My secondary responsibility includes
tracking the progress of all Firefly ground
staff and arranging necessary training for
them if required. When I’m in the office,
I monitor all staff training movements to
ensure their competency level are up to
standards. Occasionally I walk around the
Airport to do spot checking.
What are the skills andqualifications
needed to takeon this job?
A Diploma in any field suffices, but it has
to be recognised by theMalaysianMinistry
of Education.
What is required tobe able toperformthis
job?
Commitment and interest, especiallywhen
it comes to Quality Assurance.
How longhaveyoubeen in the airline
industryandwithFirefly?Whatwas your
previous career background?
I have been in the Airline Industry for
almost 17 years…my first job in Aviation
saw me in Malaysia Airlines as a Cabin
Crew serving both narrow and wide-bod-
ied fleets rated 2nd Batch for B777-200
for ten years starting 1994. I then worked
with Air Asia as a ground crew handling
employees for three years.
I joined firefly in early 2008 as a Ground
Operations Officer based in Subang Airport
and was promoted to Duty Manager after
6 months as GOO. Due to my interest in
training, I’ve been given the opportunity
to work as a Ground Ops trainer before
being promoted to Assistant Manager of
Quality Assurance.
What is themost challengingaspect of
your job?
Keeping ourselves updated before our
competitors and liaising with the Regula-
tory body (DCA) before implementation
of certain things.
