The stakes were high in the nation’s inaugural National Big App Challenge as it saw an overwhelming number of participants
from various walks of life. With Open Data from the Ministry of Health and the Meteorological Department as well as external data
sources such as social media, teams were to develop and create an application utilizing big data within a timeframe of four weeks.

About the app:
Historical data is utilised in order to educate the
public on Dengue & Aedes Mosquitos, to chart high risk areas
and predict dengue outbreaks. The Dengue Index serves as
an early-warning system for the community and government
agencies to deploy resources in a more effective manner.

A web application that generates analytics and
predictions based on weather data and dam water levels in
order to facilitate effective water management.

app can be used to simulate incidents such as disasters for
responders to practice disaster management
