MyFEST 2015 as a national mission and
the fresh campaign to showcase Malaysia
as a land of festivals with endless celebra-
tions. MyFEST 2015 offers more than 200
festivals and events.
What are themain attractions/events of
this campaign?
The highlights of MyFEST 2015 events
include:
• Grand Launch of MyFEST 2015 on
10 January 2015 at Dataran Merdeka,
Kuala Lumpur
• The Malaysia Open Houses for festive
celebrations (Hari Raya, Deepavali,
Chinese New Year, Christmas, Hari
Gawai and Tadau Kaamatan)
• Malaysia F1 Grand Prix and Malaysia
MOTOGP
• Putrajaya Formula-e Race
• Magic of the Night
• Sarawak Rainforest Festival
• Georgetown Festival
• Mega Sales Carnivals, and much more
In addition to the exciting events,
Malaysia also offers many tourist attrac-
tions for various market segments under
the tourism themes of affordable luxury,
family fun, nature adventure, business
tourism and major events. These are
complemented with 10 iconic tourist
destinations of each state of Malaysia and
the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur,
Putrajaya and Labuan.
Tourists are also attracted to the four
World Heritage Sites, which have been
acknowledged by the United Nations
Educational, Scientific, and Cultural
Organisation (UNESCO). These consist
of the historical cities of Malacca in the
state of Melaka and George Town in
Penang, Gunung Mulu National Park
in Sarawak, Taman Kinabalu in Sabah,
and the Archeological Heritage of the
Lenggong Valley in Perak.
Any unique or new festivals set to be
highlighted or introduced during this
campaign?
MyFEST 2015 will unveil new tourism
events such as the year-long Skyrides
Festivals Park; Asian Symphonies; In-
ternational Mask Festival; International
Aborigines Festival; International Festival
of Shadow Plays; Truly Asian Street Food
Festival; Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens Fes-
tival; 1st Craft International Festival; and
ASEAN Festival of Cultural Expressions.
Howwill this campaign showcase
Malaysia’smulticulturalism?
MyFEST 2015 will, among others, provide
the stage for the Festive ‘Open Houses’
that celebrate the special festive occasions
of various ethnicities and cultures, such
as the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri (Malay),
Chinese New Year (Chinese), Deepavali
(Indians), Christ-
mas (Christians),
Tadau Ka’amatan
and Gawai Festvi-
als by Sabah dan
Sarawakian ethnic
groups. Each event
will predominantly
highlight the festive
celebration with its
own unique tradi-
tions, music and
cuisine. Apart from
that, themed festi-
vals will showcase
a wide spectrum of
heritage and cultures of the various ethnic
groups in Malaysia.
Howwill the global push for MyFEST
2015 be achieved?
The global promotional campaign for My-
FEST 2015 is undertaken via a number of
strategies. These include the promotional
efforts carried out by 44 Tourism Malay-
sia overseas offices, global advertising
campaigns, participation at International
Travel Marts such as World Travel Mart
in London, China International Travel
Mart, Arab Travel Mart and ITB Berlin,
dedicated MyFEST 2015 sales missions
and tactical campaigns with tourism
industry players. Other than that, we are
also working with VISA International as
our strategic partner and official card.
Howare the external stakeholders
assisting in the overall agenda of this
campaign?
The strategic partnership with industry
stakeholders is a critical success factor for
MyFEST 2015. In line with the National
Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) initiatives of
Tourist First and ‘Voluntourism’ are being
implemented to address the pain points of
increasing awareness and publicity as well
as improving the quality of services and
tourist destinations. Another key area of
collaboration is to introduceMyFEST 2015
tour packages with value-added offerings
at competitive prices to cater to the needs
and preferences of both international and
domestic tourists.
