talks of Port Dickson
as a resort destination
would probably be met
with distaste. To be fair,
we probably wouldn’t
fault your disillusion-
ment either. Up until the post ’97 financial
crisis that upended plenty of developments
in the area, Port Dickson seemed to be the
go-to destination for Malaysians as well as
Singaporeans, what with the various perks
afforded by its geographical position.
Thankfully, with the economy picking
up these past few years, Port Dickson is
seeing a heartening revival. Where busi-
nesses were once struggling to survive,
their efforts are now paying off with
the injection of more life and traffic,
with a salient feature of the revival be-
ing resumption in the development of
previously-abandoned seaside projects.
Excellent Location
The accessibility and proximity to the
North and South areas of the Malay Pen-
insula coupled with stretches of pristine
beaches and seaside restaurants certainly
makes Port Dickson (affectionately ab-
breviated to ‘PD’ by Malaysians) a wel-
coming respite for many an industrialised
inhabitant seeking to escape their concrete
jungles.

Whilst retaining natural charm is
important, no self-respecting destination
would be bereft of at least a couple of

LAND and SandArt Playrooms, and the
SWAT Camp to boost confidence and
motivation. There is even a giant Chess &
Checkers board and a giant Snakes & Lad-
ders board for hours of enjoyable cerebral
fun! There is also snuggly family-friendly
night entertainment in the private movie
screening rooms or karaoke rooms, the
latter of which we reckon would be a hit
with the more elderly of our lot.
