Greetings and welcome
aboard Firefly.
I am pleased to inform you
thatwewill soon introduceweek-
ly scheduled services between
Malacca (Malacca International
Airport) and Pekanbaru (Sultan Syarif Kasim II
International Airport). Our direct, four times weekly service will take ap-
proximately one hour and ten minutes, a convenient journey length for
travellers from both cities.
With more than just a rich, historical past, Malacca and Pekanbaru are
both diverse in cultures, people and good food. Malacca’s popularity as a
healthcare andmedical tourismdestination has greatly increased passenger
influx into the state; as a result, all private hospitals in the city are better
equippedwithmedical supplies and operate free, regular shuttle-bus services
to and from the airport that is approximately 9km from the town. It is a
good combination for medical tourists who are seeking medical treatment
or leisure tourists who are keen on a historical city getaway.
On April 3, 2015 we celebrate our anniversary of operating for eight
years. From our initial offerings of six destinations in 2007, we currently
serve 18 destinations, while our fleet has grown from three to 17 aircraft.
The number of passengers carried has grown tremendously from 390,000
in 2007 to 2.2 million last year.
We’ve begun the year by introducing two new services: our collaboration
with Peugeot Lounge at the Subang Skypark Terminal where Firefly custom-
ers can experience Peugeot Lounge’s facilities at RM25 instead of paying
RM50 as walk-in customers, and the implementation of FPX, a real-time
online payment gateway that facilitates interbank transfer of fundswhenever
customers make payment for their online purchases. InMarch, we received
our fifth ATR 72-600, giving us a better chance at increasing our frequency
and expanding our route network.
