to increase your vegetable juice intake.
And one rule for juicing is the greener
the better!
Juicing allows you to consume an
optimal amount of vegetable in a short
time. So for those of youwho still can’t get
over eating a giant piece of broccoli – juice
it, mix it with a bunch of other foods and
voila, you’re done! It is said that everyone
should eat one pound of vegetables for
every 50 pounds of body weight.
By juicing, you can also increase the
number of vegetables and juices you
consume. While eating, you usually get
stuck in your rut of cooking the same types
of vegetables. But with juicing, all you
have to do is buy and press start. Doesn’t
get simpler than that!
If you are new to juicing, look online
for a juice fact sheet. Find out what kind
of fruits go together to create not only a
healthy blend but one that is delicious! It is
important to note that juicing is not ameal
replacement. Always listen to your body.
Juicing should be enjoyable so if you start
feeling nauseous,
perhaps the blend
is not right for you.
Bottoms up and
happy juicing!
and phytochemicals, which are verymuch
needed.
Fresh juice is the best. And with all
these little stores popping up, fresh juice
is easy to get. You could even make it at
home. But fresh juice is best consumed
within 15 minutes to an hour after
being made. Go crazy and create
your own unique blend of
juices.
You can literally
juice any sort of fruit
or vegetable. There is
no limit to your juic-
ing ways, just make
sure your juicer can handle
it. You can start experimenting first with
flavours you like and then slowly start
pushing towards blends that give you
the nutrients you require. You can never
go wrong with a banana and strawberry
smoothie. The carrot and orange juice is
not only bright but also tastes amazing. Or,
if you’re looking for something eclectic try
the pear, pink grapefruit and carrot blend.
One healthy alternative is kale-apple and
lemon. Once you start getting used to the
flavour of having blended vegetables, try

, every other
store you walk into is a
juice-ria. The food fad
has changed dramati-
cally since the days
of cupcakes. Now it
seems like the public
is into the whole clean eating regime.
However, we do wonder if juicing really
has something good to offer or if it’s just
another cool thing the kids are doing
these days.
So, first thing’s first – fresh juice is
packed full of nutrients. Sometimes even
more nutrients than the actual fruit has.
Why is this? Well, as the vegetables and
fruits are blended, the liquids are separated
from the fibres allowing for a more con-
centrated blend of nutrients. There are also
phytochemicals (protective compounds)
andminerals that are better absorbed after
being juiced.
Did you know that vegetable juices are
so rich in nutrients that they can help offset
less healthy diets. The juice diet is one that
helps with your goal while still providing
the body with everything it requires. Most
diets don’t include the intake of minerals
The recent rise in juicingmakes uswonder if this fad is actually beneficial.
