AIG Malaysia and Firef ly Join Forces to
Offer Firef ly Travel Protection

launched Firefly Travel
Protection on 24 June,
making comprehensive
travel insurance avail-
able to Firefly customerswhenflight tickets
are purchased online, through ticketing
offices and appointed travel agents. The
coverage will be available to travellers
flying out of Malaysia and Singapore.
Firefly customers will enjoyworld-class
coverage, including medical benefits of
up to RM75,000, travel assistance for
inconveniences such as travel delays
or cancellations, 24 - hour worldwide
emergency travel repatriation assistance,
acts of terrorism, hijacking and natural
disasters.
Firefly’s Chief ExecutiveOfficer Ignatius
Ong said, “ We would like everyone who
travels to get travel insurance. Malaysians
are still weary about insurance and we
would like to change that mindset. From
as low as RM14.31, you will get insurance
coverage for the duration of your trip. For
example, if you fly to Penang for a 3 day
trip, you are covered for the duration of
your stay.”
Customers will also benefit fromAIG’s
global assistance service centre, AIGTravel
Asia Pacific Pte.Ltd. (Malaysia branch),
which offers immediate customer support,
including medical advice from in - house
doctors and nurses who are on - call 24
hours a day, 7 days a week.
Antony Lee, Chief Executive Officer of
AIG Malaysia echoed Ong’s sentiments.
“ To me, insurance is a no brainer,” says
Lee. “ People are travelling so much more
nowadays and you just never know what
may happen. Look at the earthquake
that happened in Kota Kinabalu recently.
No one expected it. AIG set up a crisis
centre rapidly and trained personnel were
deployed to the site as soon as was pos-
sible.” Lee carried on to say that AIG
was excited to partner with Firefly as the
believe that they share the same passion
in giving travellers peace of mind when
they go on a trip.
To commemorate the beginning of the
new partnership, a new livery featuring
Firefly Travel Protection was unveiled.
Ong said, “We are honoured to unveil this
livery today to commemorate the launch
of this partnership with one of the leading
insurance organisations inMalaysia. Firefly
customers will also be able to enjoy the
convenience of purchasing auto insurance
online directly through this partnership
with AIG.”
Both CEO’s hope that travel insurance
becomes synonymouswithpeoplewho are
travelling and hope that they are taking a
step forward towards changingMalaysians’
attitudes towards insurance.
