people I meet or the destinations I travel to.
Do you spend a lot of time in your home-
town? What is your fondest memory of
Penang?
Going back to Penang is definitely a
“down-memory-lane” trip for me as I love
visiting my family and friends there. My
fondest memory is learning shoe-making
from my father and, of course, all my
favourite dishes and local attractions.My
motto is “whatever you do in life, never
forget where you come from”.

future?
Currently I’m working with young, up-
coming designers by mentoring them
and showing them how to make it on an
international level. I hope my experience
and knowledge will help them make it in
the international scene.

How important is style toyou?
I don’t think I was ever style conscious.
Style is important of course, but I focus
on the quality of my products and I have
been fortunate in that quality has been
valued as style.

is your favourite travel destination?
I have to say London. It is simply fabulous,
it has been has been my home for so
many years and I have many good friends
there. Also the best times of my life were
in London. It is a trendsetting capital.
The most important quality of London is
that it is multicultural like Malaysia and
you get to meet so many talented people.
Of course, the world class dining and
entertainment are definitely plus points.
