Foodie Heaven
Macanese food, similar to its architecture,
has a very strong Portuguese influence.
Combined with southern Chinese influ-
ences, the result is scrumptious delicacies
for adventurous foodies eager to try
different. Some of the must–try signature
dishes include
Galinha à Portuguesa
(chicken thighs in a mild curry sauce
with Chinese influences),
Bacalhau
(dried
and salted codfish) and
Pato de cabidela
(poultry or rabbit cooked in it’s own
blood and added to water and a bit of
vinegar).
Don’t forget to pay a visit to the origi-
nal Portuguese egg tart bakery in Coloane
Island called Lord Stow’s Bakery, which
was actually started by Englishman
Andrew Stow in 1989. Expect nothing less
than crispy pastry with egg custard filling
that will spoil other egg tart experiences
for you for the rest of your life. It is that
good!
