The much anticipated next chapter of the Star Wars saga will be hitting Malaysian
cinemascreens soon. Hereareare fewtasty tidbits tohelpyouon theway tobecoming
a trivia Jedi Master.

1. Luke Skywalker was originally going
to be named Luke Starkiller and
retained the name up until the film
began shooting. However, the name
was never mentioned, and it was
changed to Skywalker after a little
effort.
2. Steven Spielberg made a bet with
George Lucas for a percentage of the
Star Wars films and won, which has
earned him millions of dollars since.
3. Many of the buildings constructed to
be used in shots of Tatooine are still
standing in Tunisia. In fact, some of
them are still used by locals.
4. Yoda, thewise Jedi master, was almost
played by a monkey carrying a cane
and wearing a mask in The Empire
Strikes Back. However, Master Yoda’s
species has never been named.
5. At one point, Return of the Jedi was
going to be called Revenge of the Jedi
and there were actually trailers and
posters produced with the original
title.
6. Luke’s lightsaber in Return of the
Jedi was originally going to be blue
to match the lightsaber he lost in the
previous film, but Lucas was worried
that it would confuse audiences, and
thought a green lightsaber would look
better, so he made the change.
7. In a proposed ending to Return of
the Jedi, Luke Skywalker takes his
father’s mask after he dies, puts it on
and proclaims, “Now, I am Vader.”
8. Tupac Shakur auditioned for the role
of Mace Windu.
9. When Padme and Queen Amidala
— both played by Natalie Portman
— appear together in scenes in The
Phantom Menace, Portman portrays
Padme while Keira Knightley plays as
handmaiden disguised as Amidala.
10. While filming lightsaber fight scenes,
Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi)
kept getting carried away andmaking
the sounds of the weapon himself,
which had to be removed in post-
production. McGregor’s explanation?
“I keep getting carried away.”
11. Every StarWars filmhas been released
theweek after Lucas’ birthday onMay
