been converted into modern bars and
restaurants, offering a charming blend of
old and new. There is great shopping to
be found here as well as a lot of delicious
food. This is one area that you really
would not want to miss out on.
Little India
Take in the sights, sounds and smells as
you immerse yourself in a truly Indian
experience in one of Singapore’s most
culturally authentic districts. It is a little
known fact that Little India once had a
racecourse, cattle herders and brick kilns.
But while these places and people are
gone, time stands still in pockets of this
historic district. Olden-day trades sit next
to newer businesses: flower-garland ven-
dors, modern eateries, boutique hotels, as
well as arts groups.
Marina Bay
This gorgeous area is home to luxury
hotels, exclusive nightlife spots, fine
dining restaurants and world-class theatre
venues, all connected by a beautiful wa-
terfront promenade. A visit to Marina Bay
is guaranteed to bombard your senses.
With land reclamation works starting
only in the 1970s, the transformation
of the area has been mind-bogglingly
impressive.
One-North
Other than being one of Singapore’s most
important science and technology clus-
ters, One-North has the added distinction
of featuring plenty of lush green spaces
and dining enclaves that will tantalise
your taste buds.
Orchard Road
Orchard Road has been voted as one of
the top shopping streets in the world,
taking its place alongside illustrious
counterparts like Champs-Élysées and
New York’s Fifth Avenue. This really is
the place to shop until you drop.
Sentosa Harbourfront
Once a humble fishing village that even
served as a British fort, Sentosa is now
home to renowned golf courses, a yacht-
ing marina and luxurious residences, as
well as being a holiday destination for
Singaporeans and tourists alike. Nature
buffs, history fans, spa-goers, adventure
junkies – whichever one you are, there is
something here for you.
Singapore River
Standing at the banks of the river almost
makes you feel like Sir Stamford Raffles,
whose trading post sparked the birth of
modern Singapore. This 3 kilometer- long
river, consisting of Clarke Quay, Boat
Quay and Robertson Quay, is now all
abuzz with cultural, dining and nightlife
spots.
Tiong Bahru
This residential estate was built in the
1930s that had an idyllic charm it still
maintains coupled with a now vibrant
dining and lifestyle scene. A perfect mix
of old and new, this is a great place to be
to get your fix of old world charm and
new world life.
