“We loved everything about Game-
Founders Asia!Wemet a lot of people, and
we are currently talking to some of them
about partnerships to help us launch Chili
Mariachi. It was great to be able to talk to
more experienced game developers about
the problems we are facing right now, and
learn how they dealt with it when they
were starting.”
“Chili Mariachi changed a lot since the
start of the GFA accelerator, and we are
really confident we are working on a fun
game right now. I think Malaysia is taking
the right steps to have big game studios
pretty soon. Games events such as SLUSH
Helsinki and LevelUP KL are a great place
for game developers and studios to get to
know each other and possible partners.
GameFounders Asia also seems to me
a good way to bring new studios from
around the world to get to knowMalaysia
and the Southeast Asian markets.”
GameFounders Asia is the first Games accelerator inMalaysia in collaborationwithMalaysia’s Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), the custodian of
the MSC Malaysia initiative. For more info, check out

Slush is a global conference in Helsinki, Finland for startups and tech talent to meet with top-tier international investors, executives and media
LevelUP KL is a games conference for serious game industry community and developer focussing especially ASEAN market. It brings together games
developers, publisher, vendor, technology provider and educator to gather, learn and share the latest games technology information
They found joining GameFounders Asia a surreal and amazing experience. They
had three months of nonstop learning, developing, meeting people, researching,
collaborating, partying, and a bunch more of “radical experiences which is entirely
difficult to sum up into words”. They found it life-altering as game developers and it
opened their eyes to things they never knew before.
On GameFounders Asia Demo Day, they had this to say, “SLUSH Helsinki, Finland
and the Estonia stint gave us the direction we needed for the studio. It gave us an
in-depth look of how the Asian and Western market works. And that has significantly
changed the way we look at games.”
Snakesalive!
CEO Razman, Ridhuan, Farid Mohamed Ali, Tengku Fathullah and Nizzie are the
founders of Peripio Games. These avid gamers are rebooting the Nokia 3310’s classic
snake game. They are planning on introducing exciting new elements like power ups
and customised snakes in different costumes.
The GameFounders Asia Demo Day was beneficial to them because it offers an
opportunity to mingle with renowned games studios with the likes of Rovio and EA
Sports Europe, major publishers and global investors. Peripio also benefited immensely
from their participation at SLUSH Helsinki by meeting 1,400 global tech startups,
dozens of potential investors, publishers, potential partners and highly experienced
game developers.
Their advice for aspiring game startups is, “Follow your passion, continue learning
and unlearning, listen to feedback, be different, do your best and never give up.”
Fiery fish
A fish. Shooting fireballs at bad guys. Sounds fun? From the minds of Luiz Flávio
Oliveira, Matheus Braga, Francisco Marinho and Gabriel Coutinho, collectively known
as Plug and Boom, comes Chili Mariachi, the fireball shooting fish. Plug & Boom’s initial
goal, as a game development company, was to update older games for their market.
But they didn’t want it to end there, as they were interested in creating much more!
