Hotel Marqués De Riscal, Elciego,
Spain
This hotel was designed by architect Frank
Gehry and is his first and only hotel project.
It is located in Elciego, in the heart of Spain’s
Riojawine-growing region. Similar tohisother
projects, such as the Guggenheim in Bilbao
and the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, the
structure is avant-garde in its approach, using
huge titanium ribbons which stand out from
the surrounding vineyard. Tilted walls, zigzag
windows, cathedral-height ceilings and a host
of bespoke details create the impression of
accommodationasaworkofart inits43rooms
and suites.
