Chenin Blanc or a glass of cold beer,
Grill Sausages Platter paired with PB
Khao Yai Reserve Chenin Blanc and
PB Special Pizza paired with Sawasdee
Shiraz. I had the Spicy & Tasty Thai
Style Deep Fried German Pork Knuckle
and the spiciness of the sauce paired
just nicely with the sweet taste of the
wine.
No matter how stuffed I was, there’s
always room for dessert. And to end
my gastronomical journey, I had a
scoop of homemade gelato – laici with
white wine flavour. Non-wine drinkers
may think that the taste of the wine is
overpowering the laici taste, but since
my taste bud is accustomed to the taste,
the gelato was a perfect combination
from the sweetness of the laici and the
bitterness from the alcohol.
An Italian Affair
Since
I had some extra time to spare
on my final day, I took a ride out of
the vineyard to explore the rest of Pak
Chong District. To my surprise, this
part of Thailand, didn’t seem to look
like Thailand at all. The houses here
are French and European inspired and
the architecture is very unique and
modernised. Driving along the winding
roads, I really felt like I was in the
French suburbs.
About 15 minutes away from PB
Valley, I came to Palio, a uniquely popular
shopping spot in Khao Yai. Set up like an
Italian village, shopping here gave me a
feeling like I’m overseas. Here, I found
fashionable items from independent
fashion brands and many shops selling
little trinkets and hard to get antiques.
One shop that attracted my attention
was the one selling funky postcards and
notebooks. You can find many vintage
and retro designed items there.
