Eat, eat and eat!
THE
best meals to have are always
the local dishes that make the town
popular. A personal recommendation
would be to have a go at the
Nasi
Ayam Percik
,
Nasi Dagang
and
Nasi
Kerabu
. They’re traditional rice based
Malay dishes that are flavourful and
different from other local dishes and
can very easily be found as stalls and
restaurants litter the entire town. The
Nasi Kerabu
is a definite favourite; it
comprises of blue steamed rice served
with a choice of freshly fried chicken
or fish with vegetables and crackers on
the side. The rice is cooked with petals
from the butterfly-pea flower, which
gives the rice its beautiful colour!
Visit the Siti Khadijah Market
BETTER
known as Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah, this is the
biggest wet market in Kota Bharu. Named after the wife of
Prophet Muhammad, who was well known for her knack
in entrepreneur skills, this market is where you can find all
your fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood and more. If
you’re planning to cook up a storm, here’s where you will
find all your ingredients and you’re guaranteed freshness at
great prices. If fresh ingredients aren’t your thing then swing
by to fill your belly with local Kelantanese delights such as
traditional kuih, a variety of rice and noodle dishes, and
other pre-cooked meals.
