route opt for
either one of the
three options:
the Lacto-based
diet – consisting primarily of dairy
products; or a Lacto-ovo diet – based
on dairy and egg based products; or
pursue the greenest of all – the Vegan
diet which contains neither dairy nor
egg products at all.
We are often bombarded with
messages and advice telling us what
to do and what to choose. However,
follow your intuition and you will be
fine. The adjustment to a Lacto-ovo
diet of dairy and egg based products
seems the popular choice due to its
wider variety on offer, accessibility
in terms of outside (restaurant) food,
besides the consumer’s familiarity
with the products.
Breaking the Habit
If you reason along the lines of
“quitting smoking” or “reducing
your sugar intake”, then “doing away
with meat” should rank high on your
health checklist. This would bode well
in achieving the objective of being
vegetarian. Old habits certainly die
hard, especially if you have grown
up on a mixed diet and are a meat
lover. However, the problem lies with
the mind. Old habits can be broken
– it is a matter of mind over matter.
