If you really enjoy Thai food there is the option of actually
learning how to cook it. The Samui Institute of Thai Culinary
Arts (SITCA) offers cooking classes for chefs and amateurs of
all levels, taught in modern, air conditioned facilities and Ying’s
Thai Cooking Home and Smiley Cook offer more authentic
cooking experiences.
The Chaweng boxing stadium is the biggest stadium on Koh
Samui and plays host to all the major Muay Thai fights on the
island though there are plenty of smaller stadiums and open-air
ring matches on Saturday nights. If you would prefer to train
and compete like a real Thai fighter, you can take advantage
of the island’s Thai training camps, like Saman Muay Thai.
One of the more amazing this to do here is to dive with the
whale sharks. These are regal and extremely gentle sharks,
most commonly spotted from March through October. They
are harmless to humans and a marvel for divers and snorkel-
ers who are able to get up close and personal. If you don’t
dive, there are also boating trips and whale shark sighting
expeditions to help you catch a glimpse of these beautiful
marine creatures.

Samui is one of the nicest
tropical island destinations
in Thailand, spanning 228
square kilometers off the
Eastern coast of the country.
Offering some of the nicest
white sand beaches like those
at Chaweng Beach, Lamai Beach, Bophut,
Maenam and Ban Tai Beach, it is no surprise
that Koh Samui is considered to be one of the
best island destinations in the entire world.
Samui has a beautiful charming airport that
really infuses a sense of peace to travellers
who land there. It may be a small airport but
it is big on charm. There are pristine, very
well-maintained gardens as well as an open-air
tram. Departing tourists have the option of
strolling around the airport’s outdoor mall,
which has a good selection of shops and food
and beverage outlets.
