Satisfying Big Appetites
Merchant’s Lane is drawing large crowds
with its scrumptious Asian-inspired
comfort food and the novelty of the res-
taurant being housed in a former brothel.
The up-and-coming restaurant in Kuala
Lumpur’s Chinatown boasts an evocative
setting akin to that in Wong Kar-wai’s
(Hong Kong filmmaker) seminal arthouse
film, ‘In the Mood for Love’. The edifices
original designs, such as rustic windows
and railings, are retained to complement
the funky 1960’s-style décor. The decor
consists of custom-made furnishings such
as display cases and a counter in striking
teal and pink colours.
Come early if you want to secure a
seat at an
al fresco
area, the most popular
part of the restaurant. This charming
hideaway, located on the upper level of
TanHeeHui
enjoys savoury
delights in a restaurant that has
a slightly unsavoury past.

a calm respite from the busy
streets outside. Though it
offers a limited menu, the
portions are generous,
satisfying those with big
appetites.
