constantly get briefs that required different

different mediums to achieve the desired
outcome requested by the clients.”
Tan has always admired the works of
Rene Gruau and Jason Brooks, as they
both capture the essence of fashion in
simple strokes and tone, which are clas-
sic, trendy and stylish. She sees almost
similar types of talents locally, thanks
to technology and social media. “I think
we are slowly accepting illustration and
improving the art scene commercially.
Event-related art is increasing nowadays
as social media helps in encouraging
people to participate”.
Her process of creating her ‘fashion-
able artwork’ depends on the situation,
whether to create traditional or digital,
for editorial or an event. Like all art,
hers requires time and effort to create as
well, to test and to complete. It involves
communicating with clients or colleagues
who are able to give honest opinions in
order to achieve the desired outcome.
Since Tan has successfully conquered
the world of fashion, she has her eyes set
on animated illustration, which is cur-

and experimented on Cinemagraph and
Fashion Illustration during her studies
in the United Kingdom and successfully
created some works out of it. “I think it
is the perfect time to put my animation
work out there due to the support from
social media. These advantages will
definitely take my artwork to a whole new
level,” said Tan, ending the interview on
a positive note.

of illustrations. Tan gets inspiration for her
work by what she sees and feels, her daily
experiences and also her current state
of mind. As an artist, she finds that it is
important not to limit herself and always
be open-minded to new ideas.
“I was attracted to Fashion & Lifestyle
Illustration after attending a mini Fashion
Illustration Exhibition during my college
year. I decided to follow my heart as I be-
lieve that it is love and passion that drives
you towards your dream life,” explained
Tan, when asked about how she first fell
in love with her current profession.
Multitasker
It also has a lot do with the fact that
she loves fashion and how it styles a
person and brings out their character
and personality. She also believes that
fashion illustration is more impressive
than fashion photography as it is a more
unique way to interpret art and is one of
the most effective ways to create a distinc-
tive design that stands out in the crowd.
“I ammore like a multitasking illustra-
tor as I work traditionally and digitally. I
