Zakii, any artist who is passionate about
their art and their willingness to share
their skills with others also inspires her.
It pushes and motivates her even more
to become a better artist.
“Recently, art is gaining momentum in
Malaysia. I definitely see more opportuni-
ties with many art festivals happening
here. It is a shame that pencil art is still
not very popular here. That being said,
I believe what we can do is to create
public awareness towards art through
exhibitions in places that people feel
more comfortable, like shopping malls.
Sometimes people are hesitant to walk
into an art gallery because they feel
intimidated by the place,” says Lee.
Lee’s process of creating her artwork
begins with selecting photographs based
on a theme. Once she finds a photo that
excites her, she will then recreate what
she can see by further exaggerating and
emphasizing the details in her drawings.
She readily admits that she is obsessed
about details. Although it is very time
consuming and tedious, she just can’t
help it. A piece usually takes around a
month to complete but a more detailed
piece like Rhino took her three months.
“I wish to have more exhibitions in the
future both locally and internationally.
My social media pages like Instagramand
Facebook definitely help a lot in getting
more people to notice my works. Let just
see what future holds!”
