Adelaide is the capital city of the state of South Australia, and the
fifth-most populous city of Australia. Named in honour of Adelaide of
Saxe-Meiningen, who was the queen consort to KingWilliam IV, the city
was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for a freely-settled British
province in Australia .
Its ring of parkland on the River Torrens is home to renowned museums
such as the Art Gallery of South Australia, displaying expansive collec-
tions including noted Indigenous art and the South Australian Museum,
devoted to natural history. The city’s Adelaide Festival is an annual
international arts gathering with spin-offs including fringe and film events.
The city is also going through a food revolution, with talented chefs
showcasing their creations, pop up supper clubs and pubs which serve
craft beers. Music also features heavily in this city, and in March of this
year, close to 100,000music lovers from around the world gathered for
WOMADelaide, a remarkable festival that was set in Adelaide’s gorgeous
Botanic Park.

Mie is home to the Ise Jingu, Japan’s holiest shrine which is
dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu. Jingu is only just the
first in a long list of a wide variety of activities Mie tourists can
enjoy.
Those interested in Japanese culture should visit Iga Ueno Castle
and the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum, as well as the World Heritage Site
Kumano Kodo, an ancient pilgrimage route.
Families have the option of Nagashima Spa Land, the Suzuka
Circuit and the aquarium and hot springs in Toba to explore. Some
other draws of the are the Ise-Shima National Park, on the coast-
line, the pearl-producing oysters, the richly marbled Matsusaka
beef and sacred, UNESCO-protected Shinto pilgrimage sites.
Casablanca is a port city and commercial hub
in western Morocco and it fronts the Atlantic
Ocean. The city’s French colonial legacy is seen
in its downtown Mauresque architecture, a
blend of Moorish style and European art deco.
Standing partly over the water, the enormous
Hassan II Mosque, built in 1993, has a 210m
minaret topped with lasers directed toward
Mecca and is one of the fewmosques that is
open to travellers of all religious backgrounds.
It may not be as exotic as other Moroccan
cities, but it is the country’s economical and
cultural capital, and it represents Morocco on
the move emerging the gateway between
Europe and Africa.
