Tell us a little bit about your new
venture.
My latest venture, MLUX, is a Hotel-
Style Airbnb management services for
vacation rentals. It is essentially about
bringing together hosts with extra space
on their hands and guests for a better
travel experience, by tapping into the
friendliness, flexibility, and locality of
the accommodations for travellers to get
a better experience living like the locals.
I can always look through to remind
myself of the successes and failures of
my decisions.
The worst thing I can do for my new
ventures and projects is to forget the
successes and failures of the past. With
that in mind, I push on and never forget
that every step is a step forward. So I may
have to start over but it is fine because
I am not in competition with anyone
but myself.
What has been the proudest moment in
your life so far?
I get asked this a lot and I think my
proudest moment in life so far is just
being able to live my life and have
people see me for who I am rather than
what I am.
What are your future plans for your
business?
Expansion! World domination! Basically,
we are planning to bring our modus
operandi to Thailand (mainly Bangkok),
Myanmar, Cambodia and Korea in the
next couple of years.
Any last words to the readers of Fireflyz
magazine?
I shall leave you with a quote to live by,
“ Life is not measured by the number of
breaths we take, but by the moments that
take our breath away.”
You have conquered Mount Kinabalu and
then you climbed Everest. What was the
experience like?
For every mountain climb, there must be
a strong purpose and cause for overcom-
ing it. In other words, we should climb
for a purpose. For some, it may be for
self-discovery. For others, it may be for
glory. For me, it is a little bit of both
and knowing that it will make me a
stronger and better person. For both
mountains, I climbed to raise awareness
for children and to remind myself that
I am capable of change, of achieving
something that is deemed impossible to
me. The experience gave me the strength
to face challenges I never dared to face.
Who inspires you in life and in your
business career?
There isn’t one person whom I have met
who has not inspired me. Everyone has
a story. I always listen for their ideas,
courage, hardships and most of all for
what drives them to achieve the goals
they set for themselves. I am not picky
in choosing from whom or how I get
inspired. I just… get and be inspired.
After your previous company closed
down, how did you get yourself back up?
While I do believe in one door closing
for another to open, I regard the closed
doors as windows to the past which
