He grew the group in two weeks by
basically putting himself out there. He
opened his life to people on Facebook,
sharing pictures of his family. He wanted
people to see that kind of man that he
was, to see how genuine he was and that
he had no hidden agenda. And it worked.
Inclusive
KLCC Runners is a different group from
the others that are currently out there.
The way that they differ is quite simple.
The group is an inclusive one. It does
not matter what your fitness level is like
or if you are in a wheelchair. Everyone
is welcome.
It is this level of inclusiveness, and the
fact that their events are well planned
and structured, that is disrupting the
norm of running groups. “I am doing
highly structured events, where other
groups events are they turn up if they
turn up kind of thing,” said Barsing.
He puts up a calendar of events on
their website so that his group know
exactly what is happening but it is the
fact that they include everyone that is a
winner. They have had everything from
people pushing strollers to people who
just want to walk. As he said, “It is a fun
run so there is no pressure on anyone.
We have everyone from elite runners
to people who have never run in their
lives.” It is an running club that is free
and embraces everyone.
“What I Wanted To Do”
Barsing did not go into this thinking
about how much money he could make
out of it. His passion and desire to help
people were the only reasons that he
started KLCC Runners. As he said, “It
was my passion for running and it was
what I wanted to do.” The club also
offers running clinics and workshops
by qualified professionals that is free for
KLCC Runners.
Matthew Barsing is an man on a
mission, and it looks like nothing is
going to stand in his way. He transformed
himself and is now helping other people
do so. He is a living testament of what
passion and determination can get you.
