Due to food and lifestyle choices, a lot
ofmedical problems arise even inwomen
of a young age. For this reason, the hos-
pital always suggestswomenmake their
first appointment at the gynaecological
clinic right after they attain menarche.
It is important to scan and detect any
abnormalities in the ovary. Sometimes it
is already there from birth and develops
as thepatient getsolder. Onceeverything
is fine, patients can book a subsequent
appointment for a later date.
Gynaecological Check-up
A full gynaecological check-up includes
a general examination, breast exami-
nation, abdominal examination, pelvic
examination, Papsmearandanultrasound
of the pelvis. The entire examination
process can be a little uncomfortable but
should not hurt at all. If at any point of
the examination there is pain involved,
the gynaecologist has to be informed
immediately.
This routine check-up will pick up on
problems that do not show any symp-
toms.Themorecommononesareovarian
cancer and ovarian cyst. After each visit,
patients will have to return for their test
results and any follow up treatment that
may be needed. If everything is clear, the
next routine check-up should be done
after one year.
