The Most Anticipated
Comebacks Of 2016
Music has progressed
so much from what it
was before the birth
of social media and
experimental acts like
FKA Twigs and Jess
Glynne. These new
talents, without a
doubt, have injected a
whole lot of excitement
into the music scene
but it really is not
the same without the
pop giants that have
been in the industry
for years before them.
2016 is the year for
huge comebacks from
music’s most celebrated
artists, including some
that have been absent
from the scene for more
than a decade.
Fireflyz
waits patiently for the
return of these talented
musicians.
Frank Ocean burst into the scene back in 2012with his critically-
acclaimed debut album
Channel Orange
. Hugely influenced by jazz
and R&B, Ocean’s self-written songs fromthe albumwere notable
for their storytelling and lyrical qualities. After receiving six Grammy
nominations for
Channel Orange
, people are hungry formore and
demanding a sophomore album. The super-talented singer teased
his fans with social media updates on the newalbum including a
photo of library card labelled
Boys Don’t Cry
with numerous stamps,
implying various due dates. After years of waiting, the albumentitled
Blond
was finally released lastmonthwith an accompanying visual
album,
Endless
andmagazine called
Boys Don’t Cry
via AppleMusic.
Kings of Leon hit it bigwith their 2008 album
Only by theNight
,
featuring global hit singles like
SexOn Fire andUse Somebody
.
The two albums that followed did not give the same impact
however, due towhat the lead-singer described as a ‘loss of that
passion and that hunger’. The Followill brothers decided to part
ways with their long-time producer, Angelo Petraglia and start
freshwith their soon-to-be-released albumentitledWalls.
