Malaysian’s awareness and appre-
ciation towards art has definitely seen
positive growth in the recent years. This
is something that Man Chien observed
herself when shewas in Penang for a visit
last year. Shewas amazed by the support
given to the art scene there. “Galleries,
collectors, artists andmedia play
important roles in the art appreciation
part.With good art, presentation and a
good support system, interest in art will
growand subsequently lead to greater
appreciation. The systemhas towork
together,” saysMan Chien.
Artists work differently based on their
ideas,material and complexity of the
method. For designing, she does not
adhere to a solid sequence of processes
but instead does a lot of research in order
to get a better understanding of her
chosen subjects. As for creating her art
pieces, she believes that there is no such
thing as rules after canvases are stretched.
Withmore than six fashion collections
and a successful wearable art exhibition
under her belt,Man Chien has set her eyes
on expanding into the Asianmarkets in
the near futurewith her eponymous label.
Her stunning fashion and art creations
definitely bring something new to the
table particularly theworld of fashion
where changes take place by theminute
and diversity is highly praised.
