become a very popular tourist destina-
tionover the years.
Terengganu is particularly known for
its beautiful islandswithdeepbluewa-
ter enrichedwitha variety ofmarine
life including turtles above to corals
downbelow in thewater.
Fromwetmarkets that sell a variety
of fresh food to goingback in the time
at the statemuseum, there really is
something for everyone.
One of the stunning things to see is the
TengkuTengahZaharahMosque, oth-
erwise known as the FloatingMosque.
Constructionof thismosque began in
1993 andfinished in 1995. Themosque
was officially opened in July 1995 by
AlmarhumSultanMahmudAl-Muktafi
BillahShah, the late Sultanof Tereng-
ganu.
Themosque combinesmodern and
Moorisharchitecture, incorporating the
use ofmarble, ceramics,mosaicworks
andbomanite paving. Thewhite struc-
ture of themosque covers an area of
roughly 5 acres and can accommodate
up to 2000attendees at a time.
