Savour
Tender chunks of beef brisket,
caramalised shallots and chunks of
newpotatoes in a curry sauce, the beef
massaman almost hadme in tears.
Abigger stomach
That starter opened the floodgates for all
the other food. S
picy Sardines On Toast, Play
ThaimPlatter, Pla TuRice, BeefMassaman
Curry
and
Deep SeaBarramundi
were
brought to the table in a steady stream.
The sardines on toast had spicy tinned
sardines and Spanish boquerones with
sliced shallots, chilli and coriander, in
tomato sauce, all on toasted bread.
Simple, yet beautiful flavours and hard to
put down.
The
Play ThaimPlatter
is a great sharing
starter that has an amazing selection of
food on it. Crispy fried garlic lemongrass
chicken, sesame prawn toast, grilled
chicken skewers, grilled beef balls, Thai
fish cakes, rice crackers with namprik
ong (chilli based sauce) and caramelised
noodles. Everything on this platter, in a
word,was delicious,with flavours that
were a perfect combination to each other.
I was rapidly getting full and thought to
myself, “I need a bigger stomach.” Turns
out I really did asmore foodwas on the
way.
Doing theChaCha
Two dishes were hands-downwinners for
me. The
BeefMassamanCurry
and
TheDeep
SeaBarramundi
. Tender chunks of beef
brisket, caramalised shallots and chunks
of newpotatoes in a curry sauce, the beef
massaman almost hadme in tears. It was
so good that I was already planningmy
next visit to the outlet to havemore of this.
The fish option offers three choices of
whole fish,White Pomfret, Deep Sea Bar-
ramundi andRed Snapper with a selection
of ways of cooking it. The barramundi was
cooked in a spicy sweet and sour sauce.
The skinwas done perfectly, crispy and
tasty, and the fleshwasmoist.
I have never been a fan of fish, but I
could not stop eating this one.
I think i may havewhimpered a bit
when I sawdessertsmaking their way to
me. I, however, dug deep intomy core and
found roomto try the beauties that were
set beforeme. The
Mixed Thai Platter
had
a selection of Thai desserts that changes
daily. The selection that I had featured
Thai mango sticky rice, sweet tapioca,
jelly and coconut squares.Having a sweet
tooth, all of thesewere just heaven forme.
Bubur ChaCha
was the other sweet that
I sampled. This Thai style bubur cha cha
had yam, pumpkin, Thai pearls and sago
jellies floating in rich, delicious coconut
milk. Stunning.
A very unique point of this outlet is that
there is a selection on themenuwhich
offers food that has been cooked in a
Josper. Josper is an elegant combination of
a grill and an oven in a singlemachine and
the food that it produces retains all the
juices and flavours.
The kitchen is helmed by Chef Awee, a
Thai ladywho has beenwith the company
for over 20 years. I had the chance to have
a quick chat with her and she is a very
unassuming ladywho obviously knows
her stuff. Any doubts about the authentic-
ity of the dishes here can be banished
immediately.
It would be a crime against delicious
food not to eat here. Do not be guilty of
this. Go before you get busted.
