experience very fun and is glad that she
had the opportunity to be a part of this
video.
Wewill certainly be keeping an eye out
Fazura’s nextmove.
Firmly grounded
Her love formusic and the dreamto one
day be a singer was one that she had ever
since shewas a child. “I sang along to
Cyndi Lauper and SheilaMajid andwas
constantly singing along to songs from
the TV,” she said.
Even though shewas already a success-
ful actress, she did not believe enough
in herself to pursue her dreamof being
a singer. That changed recently, though.
With encouragement fromher friends
and family, she decided to shoot for that
dream. “Life is short. I decided to believe in
myself, to lovemyself, and to go for it.”
Though she is very busy with hermusic
TV showand boutique, House Of Doll,
she says that her faith keeps her firmly
grounded and helps her keep her sanity.
As one can imagine, Fazura has a very
busy schedule, which youwill not hear
her complain about. She does realise that
a balance is very important, though and
she relaxes by reading, watching films,
hanging out with friends andworking out.
Meditation and spa days also feature high
on her list of things to do to relax.
What the audiencewants
Fazura readily admits that hermusical
journey has just begun, and like every
performer, she is shooting for an album.
She knows her strengths, and ismore into
Sade and other soulful singers, which is
what shewants hermusic to be.
She does feel thatmany singers in
Malaysia are not giving the audiencewhat
they want and are not really engaging
with the audiences.When askedwhether
she felt that her songs were engaging to
her audience, she said, “I amtrying, with
my songs, to go in the directionwhere I
amgiving something that I feel strongly
about and believe in, in the hopes that
they will be engaging enough tomy
audience.”
Lookingahead
She hopes to be inmore films in the next
two to three years, to domore acting.
She is also co-producer on her reality TV
programme, which is headed into its third
season.More singing is also on the cards
and she is looking at directing as well.
She found co-producing a lot harder
than she expected. She thought it was
just a label but soon found that it took a
lot of hardwork. Scouting for locations,
making sure that everythingwas running
to schedule, taking charge of what was
happening in front of the camera. It was
tough but rewarding.
