Tell usmore about the songwriting
competition.
We created the competition for Judikahol-
ics with a knack for composing songs to
submit their works. This competition
was co-organisedwith a local television
station. The competition is called “ANight
with Judika” andwas airedweekly on the
station. Throughout the duration of the
competition, which ran between April
to June 2016, we receivedmore than 400
submissions!
Howdifficultwas the selection
process indetermining thewinner
of the competition?
Judikaholics were very enthusiastic
and supportive of this programme.My
production teamand I were pleasantly
challengedwhen filtering through all
the song submissions. After going
through a stringent selection process, we
managed to narrowdown the entries to
five compositions that will eventually be
included intomy album.
On a different note, due to over-
whelming response, the programme
subsequently progressed into another
competition to choose themodel for
the video clips. Competitors that were
eliminated at the selection phasewere
re-invited to appear live on the show
where they had to showcase their acting
abilities in front of the camera. I even sat
down in the judging panel to determine
thewinner.

AkuSebentar Saja” (Becoming
MeMomentarily), composedby
songwriterDrajat.Whatmakes it
standout compared to the rest?
There is something different about the
song. I was attracted to it themoment I
heard its demo. The tempo ismoderate,
but it carries a very strong theme.
What is the storybehind the song?
It is about howwe always perceive that
the grass is greener on the other side.
Wewill always have the desire to follow
in the footsteps of thosewho aremore
successful thanwe are. However, once
we have had a taste of it, we realise that
reality is often not as beautiful and perfect
as we assumed it to be. Hence, we should
always be grateful and contented for what
we have.
What do youhope toachievewith
this newsingle?
I hopemy fans will be able to grasp the
positivemessage of the song as it portrays
a special meaning lyrically. It is not just
another heart-wrenching love song that
pulls on one’s heartstrings. It encourages
people not to become jealous or envious
of what other people have.
The first concept
that I proposed to
my label was to get
my fans involved
in the process by
creating a songwriting
competition.
