The Person Behind The Mic
Fireflyz speaks to Alvin Sinclair, Traxxfm DJ and
entrepreneur, and gets to know a little bit about that familiar
voice that is heard on the radio.
Tell us a littlebit about yourself.Whatwere you like as a child?
I was never a fantastic student really. I always enjoyed talking in class andmaking fun of other
students andmy teachers would always comment inmy quarterly and annual report cards
about how I would not stop talking. I could not never keepmy hands tomyself as well.
Overall I would say I was a super hyper kid. Constantly running everywhere and breaking
things.
What ledyoudown thehostingandpresenting road?
When I was in college, I had a huge problemat the beginning, whichwas the fear of
stage and public speaking. I decided to enrol myself in the Public Relations Society
in college. That kind of helpedme and thoughtme a lot of things. I met a lot of
people and socialised a lot too.
That ledme to start emceeing some college events and doing some outside
jobs too. Inmy third year of college, I decided to apply for a job at a radio station
to be a part of their on-ground promotions team, commonly known as the
“Cruisers” or “Troopers”. I joined Fly FMand became on of their “troopers”, going
round giving out freebies to the listeners.
Two years later I applied to be a radio announcer and became really good at
it and I thought why not I try to become a radio announcer. I applied for a few
stations and after sometime, I got hired by Traxxfm, an English radio
station. Six years down the road and here I am.
Whatmotivates you toget out of bednowadays?
This is really a good question. Before I sleep, I usually plan
out the things that I have to do the next day but what
reallymotivatesme to get out of bed aremy current
projects that I amworking on, such as KL Indie Fashion
week, Kulture Asia and a fewother projects.
The thought of waking up another day and completing
the task set for the day really getsme going, the energy or
the anticipation of getting closer tomy goals. Every day I
look forward for the next day!
What’s next for you?
Some big plans ahead for 2017 for sure, don’t plan to burst the
bubble just yet but, we are planning some amazing events,
some conferences and not to forget KL Indie FashionWeek
2017. Creatingmore content for Kulture Asia and Kulture Tv.
Also the launch of our Kulture Clothing too. Big plans and big
dreams, hopefully all this will work out as planned. Thatmeans
less downtime andmorework.
