Sun-kissed beaches, lip-smacking food, historical sites and great
hiking, a trip toKuantan has all the ingredients for a quick and
satisfying escape.
Something
for All in
Kuantan

may seem like less of
an at tract ion when
compared to the state’s
more popular offerings
– the hill resorts of
Cameron and Genting
Highlands, Fraser’s Hill and Bukit Tinggi;
the country’s largest national park, Taman
Negara; and Ramsar site Tasik Bera to
name a few.
But ask those who have visited
Kuantan and many will attest to the
abundance of options available to
holiday-makers. Best of all, most jaunts
are a stone’s throw away from each other.
You can start the day on the boardwalk
by the beach, tuck into a hearty bowl of
curry noodles for breakfast, sunbathe
with a book in hand or improve your golf
game for the better part of the day, hit
the malls or cinemas for a dose of urban
creature comforts, savour local seafood
for dinner and cap the night with a stroll
under the stars as the tide recedes from
the shores.
Beach, Please!
A mere 10 minute-drive from the centre
of town is the beach of Teluk Chempedak
that is a hive of activity both day and
night. Crowds flock to the fast-food
restaurants and other F&B outlets that
have sprung up next to the posh, beach-
fronting Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort.
A short boardwalk lies amongst the rocky
shoreline at the other end of the beach.
Enjoy some ocean-side golfing at the
Royal Pahang Golf Club, which is flanked
by Teluk Chempedak and Taman Gelora
– a park where locals take to jogging
around a lovely lily pond. The beach that
fronts Taman Gelora is a favoured spot for
pre-wedding photography.
