Gurpuri Gets New Coat of Paint
After 13 Years
Since
Nippon Paint Malaysia launched
its corporate social responsibility (CSR)
programme in June 2013, ‘Colourful
Dreams’ has successfully adopted
and completed three children homes
makeovers, the latest being Gurpuri
Foundation located in Ulu Kelang,
Ampang.
Gurpuri Foundation provides shelter
and care to underprivileged, orphans and
neglected children in a loving and caring
environment; nurturing them to become
responsible adults. Founded in 2000 with
just 18 children, the home now has 64
children ranging from 6 to 18 years old.
Rumah Juara and Pure Life Society
were the first two homes to receive
physical makeovers from Nippon Paint,
under its ‘Colourful Dreams’ CSR
initiative earlier this year.
“Wi th the ‘Colour ful Dreams’
programme, we want to go beyond
just providing physical makeovers.
Themed ‘Create Joy for Today, Hope
for Tomorrow’, Nippon Paint aims to
contribute in more meaningful ways by
supporting their emotional and personal
development at the same time,” said
Gladys Goh, Group General Manager for
Nippon Paint (M) Sdn. Bhd.
The recent home makeover at Gurpuri
Foundation was completed with a mini
celebration workshop of treasure box
painting that encourages self-expression.
Living in a shared space, the children
holds dearly to the box to keep their
personal belongings. Apart from it, the
ThumbPrintz workshop by PKGG laid
the foundation of creating a bright future
for these children through experiential
learning that includes interactive
activities, life stories, object lessons,
group work and discussion.
