Petaling Jaya boy, Saifol Bahri Shamlan, shareswith us his experiences growing up and
his journey to become a corporate leader.

espite
being born in
Alor Setar, Kedah, to a
family that was always
on the move, Saifol
Bahri Shamlan had the
privilege to grow up in
the modern yet not too
urban suburb of Petaling Jaya as his late
father was transferred to Selangor when he
was merely one. Remembering his earlier
years, Saifol expressed just how much he
loved growing up in Petaling Jaya.
“The place was not too urbanised, but
at the same timewe had the facilities to live
amodern life. Throughout my childhood, I
still had the chance to catch guppies in the
monsoon drains and butterflies in open
fields. I enjoyed making catapults and
playing all the fun games the
kampung
children experience. Unlike children
nowadays who growup in condos, playing
PS3, I had a very memorable childhood,”
Saifol reminisced.
