Confessions of a CBTO
With almost a thousand bags and suitcases circulating the airport on a daily basis, it
can get pretty chaotic at times. FireFlyzMagazine sits downwithCBTOShahrizuddin
Rasdi a.k.a. Boy, who sharedwith us his experience, stories and useful tips for travellers
on themost important thingwhen travelling: your luggage!
So tell us, what does CBTO stand for and
what is it that youdo for FireflyAirlines?
CBTO stands for Central Baggage Tracing
Officer. Basically, my job is to assist
passengers who have had problems with
their checked-in baggage or property
while on Firefly, to handle complaints
regarding lost or damaged luggage, as
well as managing the Lost & Found centre
of the airport.

Although I’ve only joined Firefly seven
months ago, I’ve been in this industry
since 2002 with MAS. I furthered my
studies in the electronics industry after
graduating from high school, but I never
really had an interest in that field. One
day, I decided to go for an interview with
MAS and you could say that the rest is
history. I found my true-calling in the
airline industry and have never looked
back. I did take a short break to pursue
a short stint as a drummer for a band,
but I then joined Firefly and have loved
it ever since.
Whatdoyou loveaboutyour jobatFirefly?
What’s not to love about my job? It’s
one that is fun and exciting, where every
day is filled with new experiences. I get
to meet new people often and make
new friends too. But above all, I love
the challenge that comes with the job.
You constantly have to push yourself to
become better each day and to open your
mind to learn more.
The work culture at Firefly is awesome
too! I love the working environment
here where everyone is treated as equals
with no preferential treatment unfairly
given. We all work as a team through
ups and downs and we treat each other
with respect and understanding. Work
