, fragile and most of the time, helpless, turtles are moving closer to extinction as
time passes. Natural causes like climate change, which causes nesting beach erosion and
an imbalanced sex ratio of hatchlings where nests produce more female hatchlings because
of the warmer temperature and poaching by natural predators are unavoidable, but human
related causes like pollution, poaching of adults for meat and shell, uncontrolled development
and poaching of eggs for trade and consumption on top of getting caught in fishing gears are
unacceptable, especially when human acts can be compromised.
