Soori was conceived
sometime in November
2010, to serve patrons a
variety of thoughtfully prepared grub in a
setting of serenity andwarmth, suitable for
events from business lunch appointments
to a casual meeting with friends.
Nestled in a cosy corner of a shophouse
(located beneath SCDA Architects’ Singa-
pore Headquarters onTeck Lim Road), an
invitation is extended to bon vivants who
take pleasure in exquisite concoctions
of the Bistro’s offerings, including their
signature 16-hour Braised US Beef Short
Rib with Creamy Polenta, Mushroom and
Spinach, and Seared Lobster Tails with
Brown Butter, Yuzu Corn Pudding, As-
paragus, Sugar Pea and Jalapeno Pickles.
Imagine sinking your teeth in the tender
and juicy short ribs, bursting with flavours
with every mouthful. That’s exactly what
you get with every cut of the 16-hour
Braised US Beef Short Rib that’s prepared
with utter finesse.
Espousing the natural elements of
sunlight and foliage, one can’t help but call
to mind a visionary retreat with its sleekly
perennial interior. Chan Soo Khian, a
Principal of SCDAArchitect, the celebrated
designer, as well as owner, of both Soori
establishments is the reason behind the
apparent affiliation as palpable influences
from award-winning Alila Villas Soori,
Bali, feed off one another. Its signature
and contemporary designs are distinguish-
ably structured and holistic, allowing the
undulating flow of natural surroundings
and ambience to seep through.
