Performing Arts Centre
(DPAC) presents
Amboi!
Baba Meets Nyonya
.
The Peranakan is Malaysia and Sin-
gapore’s most fascinating hybrid culture,
descended from unions between foreign
merchants from China and South India
with the local women of then Malaya.
This month-long festival aims to capture
the essence of locally-born works, which
make Malaysia known for its melting-pot
of cultures.
This year, the DPAC festival team is
proud to highlight some of the nation’s
prominent art practitioners from various
performance practices in theatre, dance,
media, visual art, as well as industrial
guest speakers from academic, media
and business. There will be various talks,
exhibitions, performances and bazaar
programmed weekly, from April 3 to 27.
As a corporate social responsibility
initiative towards the development of arts
and culture in Malaysia by Mammoth
Empire Holdings, DPAC dedicates itself to
nurturing Malaysia’s unique performing
arts scene and aims to further enhance
public awareness on the importance of
art-forms, which not only enriches lives,
but is capable of shaping the nation.
