April marks a very special month
for Firefly as we turn seven onApril
3 and on April 22we will be joining
billions of people in 190 countries
to celebrate Earth Day. In light of
this, I thought there’s no better way
to honour this day than to shed some light on how
the environment plays an integral part in Firefly’s
operations.
This year will be a flourishing year for us with various branding and
operations enhancement exercises being implemented, andmoreATR72-600
aircrafts will be joining the family to strengthen our networks.
Firefly was the first to use the ATR72 series – reputed to be one of the
most economical and environmentally friendly aircraft in existence – in
Malaysia, for domestic and regional flights. The increasing global awareness
on carbon emissions and its effects on the environment is giving jet aircrafts
certain setbacks. Firefly came into the picture at the right time with the
environmentally friendly and economical turbo propeller aircraft withhigher
fuel efficiency, low vibration levels and lower noise emission.
We stand together with IATA and the Kyoto Protocol under the UNFCCC
in reducing carbon emissions by upholding our Carbon Policy. Our business
model supports this initiative by minimising our carbon emission through
implementation of reduction strategies. These includes the 3R (Reduce,
Reuse & Recycle) in the overall business operations and work culture.
With our environmentally friendly aircrafts, we strive for excellence
in a never-ending quest for improvement and innovation. In line with
the objective to go beyond convenience, we have effectively worked on
minimising environmental impacts aswemove towards a sustainable future
for the aviation industry.
As a commercial air transport service provider, our initiatives are acute
with the choices we make while maintaining a balanced operations with
regards to environment and technology.
With this, we at Firefly would like to convey our sincere appreciation
to all of our valued passengers, business and leisure travellers alike. With
your continued support, the company has seen incredible growth since its
inception seven years ago, both in fleet size and network footprint.
