The Library (Koh Samui,
Thailand)
Psychedelic
glass tilesmay be all the
rage in your kitchen or bathroom, but
designer Tirawan Songsawat and owner
Kasemtham Sornsong of The Library
Boutique Design Hotel in Koh Samui
has rewritten the rules of convention
with their statement-making red
swimming pool. The Red Pool owes
its reputation to orange, yellow and
red tiles that create a bedazzling edge
for contemporary travellers. Fronting
the immaculate Chaweng Beach, sun-
worshippers can lie all day on equally
chic red loungers fringing the pool and
go for a refreshing dip to cool off all that
sizzling hotness!

The St. Regis Lhasa Resort
(Tibet, China)
Sophistication
and extravagance have
a home, quite literally, at the Gold Energy
Pool of The St Regis Lhasa Resort. Here,
24-k gold-plated tiles, secured in place
by crystals, take centre stage and it is no
wonder that diving and running around
the pool area is prohibited. You would
think twice before interrupting a per-
fectly tranquil wading session, soaking
in all that luxury amidst the meditative
Himalayan surrounds. The heated pool
is enveloped by comfortable cushion-
laden cabanas and a wall-mounted
dragon sculpture that exudes poise and
reverence.
