International
Women’s Day, that’s
celebrated annually in more than 175
countries worldwide, is heralded as an
opportunity to celebrate past, present and
future women. Lazada Malaysia, the larg-
est virtual shopping mall, paid tribute to
Burmese refugee women alongside Tanma
Federation in an evening of celebration,
empowerment and fundraising at Palate
Palette Bar and Restaurant on March 7
to the tagline “Together We Are Stronger
Women”.
“We are pleased to honour the Burmese
refugee women with a donation to the
benefit of the centers and school,” said
Igor Pezzilli, Chief Executive Officer of
Lazada Malaysia. “By doing so we hope

School Holiday Family Picnic Fun
at Sunway Lagoon
It
was a fun day out at the largest man-
made Surf Beach in Malaysia, which was
dotted with baskets full of goodies, picnic
mats and happy children splashing and
playing in the sand as Sunway Lagoon
announced the launch of their beach
picnic activity in conjunction with their
“School’s Out, Quack’s In!” school holi-
day campaign. The campaign hopes to
attract school-breakers to enjoy a holiday
at the fun-filled multi-park destination.
The launch event was graced by the
Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative
Assembly and State Assemblyman for
Subang Jaya, Yang Berhormat Hannah
Yeoh, and 60 children from City Revival
and Sunbeams Home.
“Sunway Lagoon strives to deliver
the best and unique holiday experience.
School holidays this year will be much
cooler for sure – we welcome all families
to take out their shades and lotions
and bask away at our Surf Beach while
enjoying our other amazing rides. A
picnic by the beach may seem impossible
for city dwellers but not anymore. The
sight of pretty picnic mats, loaded picnic
baskets and great company is what we
aim to achieve for the school holidays,”
commented Bill Holman, Consultant
Director of Sunway Lagoon.
evolving challenges and support the needs
of these women. As an equal opportunity
employer, Lazada Malaysia encourages
an entrepreneurial spirit amongst women
and respects the dreams, hopes and will
of these women.”
The donation will allow Tanma Fed-
eration to move forward with plans for
existing and new projects that will raise
public awareness on the situation of
Burmese refugee women in Malaysia as
more than 40,000 ethnic Burmese women
are currently seeking refuge.
