national heart institute, Institut
Jantung Negara (IJN) and Firefly Airlines
officially launched holiday packages for
medical tourism for Indonesians through
Firefly Holiday. This smart partnership
between a private hospital and one of the
leading short-haul airline companies in
Malaysia is an effort by both parties to promote health tourism in
Malaysia, in line with the Malaysian government efforts to make
Malaysia one of the world’s hub for medical tourism.
The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding
at Plaza Medan Fair, Medan, Indonesia where IJNwas represented
by Akmal Arief Fauzi, Chief Operating Officer of IJN and Suraya
Mahmud, Firefly’s Chief Financial Officer represented the airlines.
The signing was witnessed by Nor’Ashikin Haron, Director General
of Sumatera Indonesia of Tourism Malaysia and Nor Azhar Hajis
General Consulate of Malaysia in Medan.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, IJN will be
offering attractive discounts for Firefly Holiday customers under
its three heart screening packages which are the Standard, Elite
and Premium. These heart screening packages will be included
in Firefly Holiday’s package, which includes hotel and travel
arrangements. With this collaboration, IJN hopes to extend its
awareness campaign on the risk of heart diseases and prevention,
and increase its patients from other parts of Indonesia, especially
in Medan, Batam and Pekanbaru.
Firefly’s Chief Executive Officer, Ignatius Ong said, “We are
