The Land Before Time
I
’ve
always had a fascination with
dinosaurs, something that came
about when I first watched the film
Jurassic Park back in the 1990’s.
When I heard of the Dinoscovery
by Dinosaurs Live! Exhibition at
Discoveria, Avenue K, I definitely
had to check it out.
Featuring reengineered life-size anima-
tronic dinosaurs in true-to-life adventure-
like settings, this dinosaur exhibition
that’s both entertaining and educational
is a first-of-its-kind in Asia Pacific. I had
the opportunity to “travel back in time”
and uncover the wonders of hands-on
learning through 15 experiential and
highly interactive educational activities.
The exhibition is best suited for children
who are above three years old, but adults
are welcomed too, as it’s never too late to
learnmore about these fearsome creatures.
Before the tour started, I was given
a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
bracelet, a vest that had a torchlight
attached to it and a paleontologist map –
tools that would aidme inmy Dino Quest.
I watched a short video that explained
how the RFID bracelet would guide me
in exciting discoveries. The friendly tour
guide informed me that upon completion
of each activity, I will have to collect stick-
ers of dinosaur’s footprints that needed
to be stuck on the map according to each
species.
At the end of the exhibition, I would
be able to redeem a Junior Paleontologist
cert if I correctly placed the stickers or an
Expert Paleontologist cert if I answered
the questions at the back of the map in
addition to placing the stickers. This was
definitely an activity that will keep kids
occupied in a fun way while learning a
thing or two.
The dinosaurs at Dinoscovery were
designed to provide a highly exhilarating
experience, where I was able to see almost
lifelike dinosaursmove and hear them roar
in their habitat. Featuring 22moving, roar-
