is important when it’s not. Ask yourself
these three core questions:
• Does this item have a purpose?
• If so, how important is that purpose?
• Would I even notice it if it was gone?
Tie your cables
Some
of us may have more established
desks, and with that comes a bunch of
wires and cables. Get a cable tie for a quick
and cheap fix or invest in a dedicated cable
organiser from the home depot store to
help you with this.
Go big
Granted
, some of us just cannot seem to
let go of stuff. And that’s fine too. If you
have the means and space to, why not
enlarge instead of restrict? Go big, expand
left, right and up. Maybe even down!
Invest in tiered racks and organise spaces
into themes.
Post-It pad, telephone – and arrange them
to be nearer to your hands, starting from
the side of your dominance. Food, drinks
and other assorted, unimportant stuff can
be placed further back.
Overhaul
Start
from scratch – remove everything
you have on your table, throw them in
a box and slowly return what you need
to the table, starting from core essentials
(stationery, for one), the I-need-these-most-
days-of-the-week and restricting yourself to
two items of things you rarely use. You’d
be surprised at the kind of stuff you end
up not needing after all.
Question
If
you don’t have the time to overhaul,
then re-evaluate the existence of each item
on your desk. Clutter exists because we
are tricked into thinking that everything

clutter cannega-
tively affect focus and
information processing,
on top of making you
appear unprofessional.
Clutter can be found
anywhere, such as the
office, kitchen or bedroom. Here are some
handy tips that you can utilize in order to
keep clutter and your life, under control.
Go with the flow
The
way we do things usually has a
pattern, except for the most random of us.
We’re prettymuchpredictable beings.Most
of us pick up our mugs or instinctively
reach out for our pens with our right hands
since most people are right handed. Also,
to debase a little George Orwell, all desk
things are equal, but some desk things are
more equal than others. So try to figure out
the items you use very often – red pen,
