As a travel showhost, what doyouusually
look forwhenyou travel?
As a travel show host I look for nothing.
Because the producers and directors do
all that stuff for me. So I usually go in
blind, which I enjoy more as it makes my
reactions more natural. As a travel host
it’s much different than being a traveller.
I just let everyone do the work for me and
show up where they tell me to.
What are the best places you’ve been to
so far?
I say this in every interview, but I love
SouthAfrica. I think it’s a beautiful country
with incredible and unique things to do,
and the food is great. I got addicted to
biltong there, which is a kind of dried
meat. But they also got me addicted to
ostrich and sticky date pudding. I love
eating.
Andwherewouldyousayisyourfavourite?
That’s really tough. I guess right now my
favourite place might be Toronto, Canada
as it’s my home, but it’s the spot I’ve spent
the least amount of time over the years. If
I had to go anywhere right now, it would
be home.
Whatareyourpetpeeveswhentravelling?
People at airports who act like they’ve
never been in an airport. I guess I’m
jaded because I fly so much, but I’ve got
everything down from security checks
to customs to checking-in. I’m fast, I’m
efficient and when I see people fumbling
Any embarrassing moments you’d like to
sharewithus?
Where do I start …My entire life has been
one long embarrassing moment. There’s
really toomany to share. A nice one which
was caught on camera was during Li’s
Stopover Switzerland in Zurich where the
manager of Dada House in Zurich tricked
me into thinking he was giving me an
artist’s blessing by dunking me in a public
fountain. That was pretty humiliating
though the producer reacted by saying
“that’s good TV!”
Latelywe’ve been seeing youmore on TV
screensthanontherunway,whatmadeyou
decide togo into the showbiz?
Necessity! In fashion, models have very
limited shelf life and as a full-time 32-year-
old model, I was pushing the limits of
what I could do, especially since I’m not
maturing into a wrinkly white haired
man which would be good for the mature
modellingmarket. I got the chance to host,
Li came knocking and I auditioned for
themand the network has been amainstay
for me since I started hosting. I’m lucky
they were open to working with such a
new and raw host.
What are the shows that you’re working
on right now?
There are always projects with Li. We’ve
got some short form stuff confirmed for
the next fewmonths, but they’re pushing
hard to make another Jason Down Under
happen. So that will be cool. Right now
I’m shooting
Ten
, which is a show that airs
terrestrials on AXN in the Philippines and
we’re hoping to make the jump with that
with stuff or being surprised to have to
take their laptop out at security, it bugsme.
Also I hate big groups checking in together.
I feel like group check-ins are done 50%
slower than if everyone just checked in
separately. But really this is all my problem
because mostly I just get irate at airports.

I’m currently putting the finishing touches
on my first novel and hope to have that
published soon. I mean, in this age of
online publishing I’ll publish it in some
form, but right now my literary agent is
trying to place it with traditional publishers
and if that works, my book should be
available on a book shop near you very
soon. So that’s very exciting for me.
In 10years, I wouldbe…
In ten years, I would like to be a successful
author.
