IATA Clearing House, crew hotel and
transport billing, and payment of aircraft
leases. I then joined Operations Planning
in Malaysia Airlines in 1989 where I was
responsible for schedule implementation
of the narrow-body schedules for 16
years.
The challenge I face at my current
job is that it can get quite demanding
and the hours are long, so it is important
to be able to plan and balance my time
properly. Besides that, I must have a high
standard of commitment, responsibility
and accuracy, the ability to work under
pressure, be adaptable to last minute
changes and be able to meet deadlines.
Achieving what I am today from being
a crew member is a big achievement for
me. My experiences and skills culminated
from across various areas withinMalaysia
Airlines are my greatest assets. I believe
the driving force behind every successful
career is the passion inwhat we are doing.
We must have passion in what we do,
otherwise we are in the wrong place.
Through this, I have learned the value
of going beyond expectation, which has
cultivated in me a desire towards service
excellence which is deemed vital in every
business venture.”
The Culture
“Firefly has grown tremendously from
a small fleet of three Fokker 50s in April
2006 to its current fleet size of 16 ATR72
aircrafts. We currently operate 883 flights
per week with the highest frequencies to
Penang and Kota Bharu within Peninsular
Malaysia, and Krabi in Southern Thailand
being our latest destination. We have
since collaborated with Malaysia Air-
lines to enhance our network coverage,
flight frequencies and customer service,
which they have market our routes using
codeshare arrangements. We have seen a
significant growth in our passenger traffic
and we are excited about expanding
further. I hope to see Firefly as Asia’s most
preferred turbo-prop airline and I firmly
believe we can reach that goal.
Mymost memorable experience would
be the start-up of the Firefly’s jet opera-
tions at KLIA in 2011 within three months.
We started off with just two B737-800s and
gradually increased to six aircrafts over a
period of six months. It was really very
encouraging to see the demand for seats
building up on every flight.
I enjoy working in Firefly as we have a
dynamic team! There is a strong sense of
bonding amongst the staff which enhances
great teamwork across departments; this
has expeditedwork processes to helpmeet
our deadlines.
I basically love what I am doing. In
Network and Scheduling, we are able
to have overview of the entire airline
operations. What better place can I be
at? This is exceptionally interesting. I
started in an aviation industry and I plan
to remain here.”
